Capricorn One Promotions aims to provide musicians and singer-artist with opportunities to connect, to learn, to grow and to build their business sense.
The role of the Promoter in the entertainment industry is well established, but not necessarily easily defined. Responsibilities, Involvement, and influence of the Promoter, depends largely on the role needed in different situations and with different clients. The Promoter can provide name only, we can be project supervisors, or can provide hands-on management of overall music production processes.
Larry Thompson will work hand-in-hand with the clients, weather it is filing forms or pitching Press kits etc. Also Larry will meet and greet all the studio engineers, to ensure a smooth Transition while working with clients of the Capricorn One Promotions.
The word promotion is something you will hear often when it comes to publicity for singers, musical artists, songwriters, and musicians. Promotions are crucial to career development in the music industry. Little or nothing happens simply by chance.
Not all music careers need the same types of promotions. Bands, singer-artists, singer-songwriters, and songwriters all have different needs, require different venues, and have different expectations of their careers in music. As a beginning musician, you can choose to learn to handle your own publicity, or you could hire an individual promoter to do specific jobs as needed. Later, you can employ a full-fledged personal manager to take care of everything – for a considerable fee, of course.
Handling our own music publicity can take considerable time, but can also be very informative. Self promotion can be a good way to learn a lot about the music industry, about audiences, about venues such as radio DJs and club managers, about magazine and newspaper articles, about music publishers, and about business and business management.
A good press kit must be prepared and sent to recording companies and music publishers; this will help get your career under way. Press kits (also known as promotions packages or promo packs) should include your website (get one!), which includes your music and information about yourself. And, don’t forget the all-important press release. Make sure your press kit has one.
All clients of the Capricorn One Promotions will be on file for a year after the one year is up the clients will have to sign another contract stating that Capricorn One Promotions will sponsor them for another year. The object of theCompany is to make sure all of our clients, get picked up by a Producer/Record Company/ Musical Entertainer.
Capricorn One will expect nothing but professionalism for all of its clients. During the year that our company is working with you and you choose to switch promoters, the client will be, expecting to pay a fee of 15% of what was paid in the contract.
Promotions packages should be targeted to local radio stations, college radio stations, and internet stations, remembering that mixed and mastered CDs only are good enough for the job! Do some research, e-mail or call to get information, and be sure you always include contact information!
Capricorn One Promotions will send clients demo CD’s where their music best fits the audience. Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, Rock.
Use different promotional methods and promote to various venues. Promotion is an important part of your business. The best success follows effort. Promote yourself as a professional to television stations, radio stations, newspapers, and even record distributors and publishers. The idea of promotions is just to keep your name and face in the eyes and minds of the public.
